What’s Different About How We Handle Cases?

We’ve previously talked about some of the big cases that ERA Solutions have been involved in, such as the closure of BHS, the insolvency of Monarch Airlines and Monarch Holidays, as well as the store closures of Jones Bootmaker.

However, ERA Solutions handles all kinds of cases and we take on any size, however big or small. One recent example was the closure of Too Funky Hair Ltd in Manchester. ERA were referred the case by Dunham Dean Advisory, who regularly approach us with small cases such as these.

The Too Funky Hair Case

The business had operated from a high profile location in central Manchester for over 20 years.  However, changes in the retail market and increased local competition meant that it had begun to struggle. The owner injected almost £100,000 of her own money into the business, but it couldn’t be turned around.

Too Funky Hair Ltd was a small team of 14 employees, many of whom had worked for the company for a long time and knew the owner personally. These were passionate, creative people and there were a lot of tears at the closure of the business.

In small cases such as these, ERA matters must be handled sensitively. Our Case Controller Dan spent time with the employees and took them through the full process to make sure that they all got the remuneration that was due to them.

“With small cases, we can be more personal and spend more time with the employees, which I believe really makes a difference.” Says Dan. “Often in small cases such as these, the business comes to a natural end, though it’s no one’s fault and there are no hard feelings. It’s our job to make sure that the employees leave fully understanding their rights and what happens next.”
